The PlugLAN™ 8250 SmartTap™ from Asoka® works with the PlugLAN Gateway and other components in the PlugLAN family, delivering a complete high-speed networking solution optimized for hotels and hospitality environments. This tamper-proof, permanent-mount customer premises equipment (CPE) provides dual wired Ethernet ports for High Speed Internet Access (HSIA) and VoIP telephone service, while retaining the use of both electrical outlets.
Using the PlugLAN 8250
The 8250 SmartTap installs quickly and permanently using tamper-proof screws, establishing a secure, high-speed Ethernet connection to the PlugLAN system over existing electrical lines and delivering speeds up to 85 Mbps over the power lines. Featuring dual RJ-45 LAN ports, the 8250 SmartTap is ideal for hotel rooms, allowing simultaneous connection of a VoIP telephone and High Speed Internet Access (HSIA) to the guest’s portable computer.
The 8250 SmartTap combines robust performance with advanced security and network management functionalities. Built-in data encryption and VLAN capabilities ensure security and privacy to every client. Each device can be controlled either independently or by using Asoka’s PowerView™ management software.
